We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Payment Processor to provide coverage during a leave of absence. This role supports the Accounts Receivable team and is responsible for maintaining client trust accounts by accurately processing daily consumer payment transactions within the system database.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and process daily manual lockbox payments into the appropriate directories within the FACS operating system
- Open and distribute incoming mail from the mailroom department
- Research unidentified payments and communicate with appropriate departments regarding closed accounts that may require reopening
- Accurately post checks and money orders to the correct account numbers
- Balance batches and resolve discrepancies prior to updating transactions in the system
- Serve as backup for multiple functions within the payment processing team
- Prepare and mail closed account correspondence along with original payment instruments to clients or consumers
- Process NSF (non-sufficient funds) payments returned by the bank on a rotating schedule
- Monitor and manage email communications, processing related transactions and adjustments as needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Prior experience in payment processing or a payment card department preferred
- Experience handling cash in a high-volume transaction environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality standards
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Adaptable, with a willingness to learn and embrace process improvements
- Reliable with the ability to maintain a consistent full-time schedule
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in accounting preferred
- Prior cash handling experience strongly preferred
